Sealants are a thin layer of tooth-colored resin that we use to seal grooves in the chewing surfaces of teeth. 60% of cavities start on the chewing surfaces, that’s because decay causing bacteria live in deep grooves and eventually create cavities. Sealants are a proven and effective way to protect your teeth and lower your risk for decay.
Professional whitening gel used together with custom-made trays is actually GOOD for your teeth. Carbamide peroxide, the active ingredient in the secret sauce, is recognized by the FDA as an oral antiseptic! It kills the bacteria that lead to tooth decay and gum disease on contact. We combine our whitening gel process with an enamel remineralizing paste that not only eliminates the sensitivity sometimes associated with whitening but actually strengthens your teeth. Studies show that this combination can actually reverse early cavities.
Electric toothbrushes are more effective than their traditional toothbrush counterparts for a number of reasons. First, they use their rapid pulsation to break up plaque better, removing more plaque and bacteria with every brush. Secondly, their small, vibratory movements allow the bristles to settle into the grooves between teeth and gums much better. Additionally, most of them come with a built in timer, so you’ll know how long to brush to do a good job.
Regular preventive hygiene visits are the best way to clean the areas that our toothbrushes have difficulty reaching. This is also the time for your routine checkup that will catch any dental problems early. One visit every 6 months can lead to a lifetime of happy smiles.
Prevention is the key
is now reaffirming what we have known in theory for generations - prevention of a future problem is better than fixing one. A dentist's training and education has traditionally been focused on performing complex and expensive procedures to repair advanced dental problems. These types of procedures are sometimes necessary of course, however at Semidey Dental we take a unique approach to dentistry by utilizing the newest advancements in science to focus on prevention. We invest in the newest non-invasive methods to repair dental problems that help to reduce pain during procedures and to help patients keep their own valuable, natural teeth.
